Understanding Proper Context

For I know the plans that I have for you... We know the Bible is the inspired Word of God, eternal truth and sufficient in all matters. But we can easily fall into a trap of taking a single verse out of context and building bad theology and belief systems around a single verse instead of understanding and applying it in correct context. Do we take the time to understand these verses and Scripture as a whole in context as we read and study?
